(Pavane Publ Choral Series) A very satisfying set of variations on this well-known hymn tune. The tune is the original plainsong, but some of the nine variations can be identified as relevant to parts of John Mason Neale's translation of the hymn. The pieces are all short and several are for manuals only. Altogether, this is a well-judged and imaginative set by the organist of Beverly Minster in Yorkshire, England.
