Each arrangement is designed to feature a specific solo wind instrument (sax, flute, flugelhorn or trumpet). Transposed parts for C and B-flat melodic instruments are provided. The melody line is passed between the piano, guitar and the solo instrument through-out each arrangement, which are designed not as piano solos with instrumental back-up, but rather with the piano as part of the group. The arrangements work best for rhythm players who can improvise from a chord chart, so all parts include chord symbols; the drum/electric bass part has some transcribed passages, and the piano part is fully transcribed.
