Grade 5 Martin Luther’s well-known Christmas carol has been set atop an accompaniment that brings out the lullaby-like nature of the melody. The softly rocking ostinato pattern provides a simple accompaniment to the familiar melody that is simple for the less experienced performer to grasp. This simple arrangement is especially well suited to use as a quiet Christmastide prelude, meditation piece or offertory.
