A New Mexican Treasury of Songs and Plays for Children is a work begun by Dolores Valdez de Pong in 1992. She began to compose music and write plays for her students in elementary so that they could learn about the history culture and geography of hte Southwest, particularly New Mexico and southern Colorado. Spanish, Native American and Anglo topics are included in this body of work. The collection contains 99 of her original children's songs and 14 original plays and skits. Several of the songs are in Spanih, and some of the plays and skits are bilingual. Also included in this treasury are songs in English Pertaining to school and family life.
