"A Franciscan Pastorale" incorporates the beloved hymn "All Creatures of Our God and King" in a beautiful contemporary setting. The piece opens with an introductory section of nice chords and melodic movement before the hymn tune is introduced in a solo voice. Ashdown's setting is fresh, and you'll want to add this piece to your regular repertoire list. It looks more difficult than it actually is to play.
